Our History

In 1960, a group of employees of Riegel Paper pooled their resources and received a federal charter to form their own credit union. This group of volunteers and community activists provided a place where hard-working locals could save for the future and borrow to get through tough times.

Over the years the mills were sold or closed and the community has undergone significant changes. One of the few constants has been the Riegel Federal Credit Union. Today, we continue to serve the community by offering savings products, loan products and transaction products with friendly and personal service. A quick visit to our office or a short conversation with our employees and volunteers quickly reveals what a purely community institution Riegel remains. Not only do we know most members by name, but we probably will know their relatives and friends by name as well.

Home Equity Loans
The Credit Union offers fixed rate Home Equity Loans up to 80% of the value of your home with a maximum loan amount subject to total credit union indebtedness. We offer low rates with flexible terms up to 20 years to repay your loan. Please contact the Loan Department with any questions you may have or to apply today. You may also choose one of our other convenient application options below.

Home Equity Line of Credit
The Riegel Crown Account is our Home Equity Line of Credit product which offers a very competitive variable rate of Prime + 0%. You may borrow up to 80% of the value of your home with a maximum credit line subject to total credit union indebtedness. The repayment terms are based on 15 years and the draw period in which you can borrow additional funds is 10 years. Once you are approved for a Riegel Crown Account, you can draw as little as $100 of your remaining credit limit using courtesy checks to make home improvements, purchase a vehicle, or any other purpose. In most cases, the interest you pay is tax-deductible. Please check with your tax advisor for further information. Some fees may apply.
