THE SELF RELIANCE (NJ) FEDERAL CREDIT UNION STORY

Self Reliance (NJ) Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1959 as Self Reliance (Passaic, NJ) Federal Credit Union.

Our field of membership shall be limited to those having the following common bond: Persons who live, work (or regularly conduct business), worship, or go to school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in Passaic County, New Jersey.

Founded on the principle of people helping people, our credit union provided and continues to provide financial services that help our members enhance their quality of life. Today the credit union offers a host of lending, savings and other services to ensure the highest degree of member satisfaction. Additionally, our credit union continues to support various cultural activities, which foster the traditions of the communities in which we serve.

Originally we maintained an office on Hope Avenue in Passaic, New Jersey and in 1989, our Board of Directors purchased our present location, 851 Allwood Road, Clifton, New Jersey.

In April 1993, to further expand our services and reach a greater portion of our membership, we changed our name to Self Reliance (NJ) Federal Credit Union.

Today, we maintain our main office on Allwood Road, with branch facilities at 229 Hope Avenue, Passaic.
